Oil Pulling – The Newest Craze?

Oil pulling… Is it the newest craze? Actually, oil pulling’s roots date back 3-5000 years ago. It was introduced to the modern world in 1992 by  Dr. F. Karach, MD, who claimed that oil pulling could cure a variety of ailments ranging from heart disease, digestive troubles, to hormonal disturbances.

Here is a List of Reported Benefits:

  • Brighter, Whiter Teeth
  • Healthier Gums
  • Prevents Bad Breath
  • Clearer Sinuses
  • Better Sleep
  • Improved Lymphatic System
  • Tonic for Sore Throats

How To Pull Oil

In the morning brush your teeth before breakfast and on an empty stomach then put a tablespoon of sesame or coconut oil into the mouth, but do not swallow.  For 10-20 minutes, swish and pull the oil through your teeth. Pulling can be done while meditating, watching TV or doing housework. After at least 10 minutes, spit the oil into the garbage can and then rinse thoroughly with warm water. Best results come from continued pulling.

Of course, being a health coach, I will try anything.  In my experience, it does make the teeth whiter and the breath better. It also seems to help keep colds at bay. Give it a try! Let me know your results! Happy pulling, Babs!
